CSSH’s IMS pugmill and track blender are reshaping mineral processing in PNG.
Crusher & Screen Sales (CSSH), the Irish Manufacturers (IMS) distributors for Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG), know a thing or two about pugmills.
Used primarily used for mixing and conditioning various materials, particularly in operations involving copper concentrates, pugmills are essential for blending aggregates and waste stabilisation.
Understanding how vital pugmills are for the mining industry, CSSH now stocks the PM1200-20TB track pugmill, a machine designed to meet a wide range of projects.
With two separate feed hoppers for blending two raw materials, the option of one or two powder hoppers fitted with load cells and rotary valve and the ability to blend two liquids fully automated, the PM1200-20TB is the next generation in pugmill technology.

The two feed hoppers have separate conveyor belts both fitted with belt scales and controlled by a programmable logic controller (PLC) and recording system. The operator can then program the batch size, percentage of both raw materials, powder and liquid percentages and tonnes per hour.
The plant has its own WiFi so the PLC can be managed from a loader or site office showing live blending in process. And, if the programmed percentages are not met, the PLC will stop the plant.
The batch report shows the actual blend against the one programmed and will produce a project report including all the separate products used for the day combining all the batches.
The PM1200-20TB two 5m-long feed hoppers hold 10m3 each and can have the dividing wall removed to make one 20m3 hooper.
There is also the option of fitting vibrating hydraulic tipping grids to the two feed hoppers for pre-screening of oversize, rubbish from the product or vibrators lumping material. The Pugmill blender is powered by a Cat C7 motor and hydraulic drive train.

To control the water flow when slurry mixing for remediation projects, the pughead can be fitted with a weir and a dosing pump for adding a liquid to reduce the water volume required. The option of the second powder hopper on the pugmill gives the ability to blend two powders at once.
CSSH can also supply the BP1200-48TB track blender to help mining operations get the most out of mixing and processing materials like soil, rock, or ore.
The BP1200-48TB has four 5m-long 12m3 feed hoppers with the same design hoppers and PLC control and recording system as the PM1200-20TB.
The machine’s dividing wall can also be removed to make two 24m3 hoppers. The plant has an electric drive powdered by a Cat C7 generator that can be connected to mains power and the blender can operate with an IMS modular electric pughead and radial stacker.
IMS also produces a track twin feed hopper blender, modular electric four hopper blender/pugmill option, conveyors and screening plants for the many needs of the Australian and PNG mining sectors.
