Since its establishment in 2002, Cameron Construction has grown into a well-respected civil contracting company based in Lae, Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Known for its high standards, expertise in safety, and efficient project management, Cameron Construction delivers long-term projects across remote locations. Its extensive plant fleet and ability to complete projects on time and within budget has earned the company a steady stream of repeat business.

With increasing demand for high-quality concrete aggregates and sand for civil construction, mining and marine projects, Cameron Construction required a solution that would not only increase productivity but also enhance material consistency and reliability. To meet this challenge, the company turned to Lincom Group, a trusted partner with whom it has maintained a strong business relationship for over 20 years.

The challenge

Cameron Construction faced a critical business challenge: the need to enhance material quality and meet increasing demand for high-specification aggregates and sand.

With market expectations rising, the company sought an upgrade to more efficient and advanced equipment that could ensure consistent production and long-term reliability. Additionally, it required a solution that could support future growth and evolving project requirements.

Without an effective solution in place, Cameron Construction risked delays, higher operational costs and missed business opportunities. The company needed a high-performance material processing system that could improve efficiency, deliver superior-quality materials, and provide long-term sustainability.

The solution

After evaluating various options, Cameron Construction selected the equipment, which included:

  • Powerscreen 2100X 3-deck rinser
  • McLanahan ultra sand dewatering plant (capable of processing two different grades of sand)
  • LP 16/75 mobile radial stacker.

Lincom Group’s equipment was chosen for its superior design, reliability, and ability to meet both current and future needs. The pre-sales consultation and the assurance of exceptional after-sales support, including parts and service availability, played a significant role in the decision-making process.

Equipment overview and benefits

Powerscreen 2100X 3-deck rinser

The Powerscreen Chieftain 2100X is designed for medium- to large-scale operations that require high volumes of specification-grade materials. Its screenbox is fully adjustable, allowing operators to fine-tune stroke, angle, and speed to achieve optimal screening performance. With the ability to produce four saleable products simultaneously, it maximises efficiency and output.

Beyond its large processing capacity, the 2100X is engineered for rapid deployment. Quick setup times, combined with maximum mobility and low ground pressure tracks, ensure the unit is operational within minutes. Maintenance is also simplified with a transverse power unit arrangement and a drop-down fines collection tray, making mesh changes easier and reducing downtime.

McLanahan ultra sand dewatering plant

The McLanahan ultra sand plant revolutionises sand processing, offering substantial improvements over traditional fine material screw washers. This innovative system features advanced hydrocyclone/separator technology, which ensures greater separation efficiency and higher product yield. By effectively dewatering the sand, it produces a drier final product, reducing drying times and enabling more efficient stockpiling.

The ultra sand plant’s flexibility allows it to process multiple products within a single system. Whether for concrete, masonry, or industrial sand applications, the plant is capable of adapting to a wide range of material requirements. Efficient water recovery further enhances sustainability by minimising waste and improving operational housekeeping.

LP 16/75 mobile radial stacker

Designed and manufactured in Australia, the LP 16/75 mobile radial stacker streamlines material handling operations. Its hydraulic drive ensures smooth operation, while a low-maintenance design and user-friendly controls make it easy to operate. The stacker is built for quick setup and effortless transport, making it an ideal solution for a dynamic worksite.

The feed hopper and conveyor width options provide additional flexibility, allowing operators to tailor the system to their specific stockpiling needs. By automating the stockpiling process, the LP 16/75 reduces reliance on loaders, improving efficiency and reducing fuel consumption.

Commissioning and training

The assembly and commissioning of the new plant were scheduled for three weeks but were successfully completed in just two weeks, resulting in early production and cost savings.

Lincom Group provided on-site training with two specialists overseeing the commissioning process. Cameron Construction acknowledged the Lincom Group team for their professionalism, technical expertise and support, which ensured a seamless transition to the new equipment.

Operational improvements

With the new system in place, Cameron Construction has experienced significant improvements in efficiency and product consistency.

The Powerscreen 2100X, in combination with the McLanahan ultra sand plant, allows them to produce high-quality crushed river gravel for concrete aggregates, civil construction, and mining/marine applications. The ability to process fine and coarse sand grades has been particularly beneficial for shotcrete and masonry block production.

The ultra sand plant’s dewatering capabilities have greatly improved operational efficiency by reducing moisture content in sand products, which shortens drying times and enhances productivity. This system ensures higher sand equivalencies, providing consistently high-quality materials for construction applications. Additionally, its efficient water management minimises waste and supports sustainability, aligning with Cameron Construction’s commitment to responsible resource utilisation.

The LP 16/75 mobile radial stacker has streamlined stockpiling operations, increasing storage efficiency while reducing loader movement and fuel consumption.

Customer feedback and future plans

Cameron Construction is extremely satisfied with the performance of the new equipment, highlighting the ease of use, reliability, and increased production capacity as major advantages. The company has already begun discussions with Lincom Group about additional machinery acquisitions and spare parts procurement to further enhance their operations.

Beyond the equipment itself, Cameron Construction highlighted Lincom Group’s exceptional before- and after-sales communication. The support, expertise, and seamless execution of the project reinforced their confidence in Lincom Group as a trusted partner.

As Cameron Construction continues to expand, they remain committed to maintaining the highest standards in civil contracting, ensuring they deliver outstanding project outcomes for years to come.
