Pacific Lime and Cement is maintaining strong momentum as it progresses toward first production on the Central Lime project.
In a construction update, released on November 28, project director Jason Zola said the project was on track and hitting planned milestones in the wake of the positive final investment decision earlier this year.
Among the achievements in November, the project is now close to completing its kiln cutting.
Across the planned area, it has also completed foundation work for the concrete batch plant and the fuel storage facility. A mobile workshop has been established, which provides further support for infrastructure development as construction activity ramps up.
The phase 3 design of the vital wharf facilities is also progressing. The phase two wharf is fully operation and also supporting the site development, with staff now awaiting materials for the phase three additions.
Work on the access road to the southeast towards Port Moresby and the mine lease area is advancing. This is designed to open a new corridor that will be required to install the 60-tonne bailey bridges and also a future water pipeline.
Zola said the onsite workforce had grown to more than 200 people, with over 90 percent drawn directly from local villages, including Kido.
“It’s really been great to see the strong engagement and participation across the workforce as we continue to build the project momentum,” he said.
“Overall, construction remains on schedule and on budget.
“We’re exactly where we expected to be at this stage and the team is working incredibly hard as we move towards first production.”
