Great Pacific Gold will double the reach of its diamond drill campaign at the Wild Dog project in East New Britain, taking the phase one program to 5000m.

The program, launched in May this year, has been designed to test high-priority targets over a 1.5km strike within the Wild Dog epithermal vein structural corridor.

The high-grade nature of the system had already been confirmed by multiple strong intercepts. In addition, recent processing of MobileMT geophysical data has highlighted the exceptional scale of the system and the potential for a major porphyry copper-gold system adjacent to the veins. That would create a similar geological footprint to the Wafi-Golpu deposit.

The expanded program will now include 28 diamond drill holes, and is expected to continue into early 2026.

At the same time as its expanded drilling program, Great Pacific is using airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology to create a large-format imagery survey across the Wild Dog district. The 200-square-kilometre survey will utilise a Teledyne Galaxy LiDAR sensor in combination with a Vexcel imaging system, both mounted on a dedicated fixed-wing platform.

This will allow the resulting image survey to highlight terrain below the dense jungle canopy in the area. The survey is scheduled to commence in August 2025, with processed datasets feeding directly into phase two drill planning.

Great Pacific chief executive officer Greg McCunn said the success of the drilling at the Sinivit target had led to the expansion of the program.

“The final hole in the Sinivit program is designed as a major step out to the north towards Kavasuki to test a gap area where there is no historical data, but geophysics suggests a connection to the Sinivit target,” he said.

“This step out will be a precursor to moving the diamond drill to Kavasuki for phase two drilling in 2026.”
