Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited (KMHL), along with the PNG Kidney Foundation, commemorated World Kidney Day earlier this month on March 13.
World Kidney Day is a global campaign held annually on the second Thursday of March to raise awareness about kidney health while helping to reduce the impact of kidney disease around the world.
The PNG Kidney Foundation (PNGKF) is at the forefront of kidney health advocacy in PNG, providing affordable dialysis treatment, raising awareness and supporting patients.
KMHL has given generously to the cause over the years while assisting in carrying out public awareness and education initiatives.
“We recognise the impact of kidney disease in PNG, and we have partnered with PNGKF to support their advocacy efforts, and we look forward to partnering with them on future initiatives,” KMHL managing director Sarimu Kanu said.
Kidney disease continues to be a growing health concern in PNG. Factors such as limited access to healthcare and the high cost of dialysis can cause cases to rise.
KMHL hopes that, in partnering with PNGKF, it will be able to raise public awareness and intervention from government and corporate organisations.
“On this World Kidney Day, let’s raise awareness about the importance of kidney health and the steps we can take to protect it,” PNGKF said.
“Our kidneys play a vital role in filtering waste, balancing fluids, and keeping our bodies functioning properly.
