Mayur Resources has signed a roadmap agreement with a handful of key players as it works toward a formal Community Development Agreement (CDA).
The company signed the agreement with the Mineral Resources Authority (MRA), the Central Provincial Government and landowner groups as it plans for the CDA in early 2025.
The CDA sets out the commercial relationship between Mayur and the local, provincial, and national governments in PNG, along with a benefits sharing regime with local landowners in Kido for the Central lime project and Rearea for the Central cement project.
“We are thankful to all stakeholders present at the consultative forum, including the Minister for Mining Wake Goi, Jerry Garry, the managing director of the Mineral Resources Authority, Hegoi Igo, the chairman of the Kido Landowners Association, Vai Aia the chairman of the Rearea Landowners Group, and other representatives and dignitaries,” Mayur managing director Paul Mulder said.
“We look forward to execution of the CDA in early 2025 that will see the first new mine in 18 years be built in PNG and to co-locate the first commercial vertically integrated manufacturing production facilities of quicklime and clinker/cement.”
The roadmap outlines the process by which Mayur and its stakeholders will progress towards the CDA in early 2025.
The next steps include holding two additional CDA meetings, which are planned for December 2024 and early January 2025.
