The Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) was on-hand at the opening ceremony of a new four-in-one classroom at Mananda Jr. High School earlier this month.
The classroom, built as a project between the MRDC and Gas Resources Hides No.4, is the first project off the block for landowner beneficiaries impacted by the PNG LNG project in Hela Province.
“It is encouraging to see project partners working together for the benefit of communities affected by the PNG LNG project,” Komo Hulia Member Daniel Tandipu said at the opening ceremony.
“I commend GR Hides No.4 and MRDC for supporting the government in delivering essential infrastructure.”
MRDC managing director Augustine Mano said the company was satisfied with the project, which provides a modern learning environment for the Mananda Jr. students.
“MRDC’s impact in the communities we serve is significant,” Mano said.
“We are currently building important infrastructure in health, education, and economic sectors. Subsidiaries under MRDC management have delivered over K40 million ($15.8 million) in projects since 2018.”
The MRDC thanked Timalia Gangulu Hahai and Trans Wonderland for their help with transport, and Hides Gas Development Company for the use of storage and site facilities.
“These local companies, owned by the community, reflect MRDC’s commitment to partnerships that benefit the people,” MRDC said.
“The local community have expressed their appreciation for the project, noting its positive impact on students and the broader community. We extend our gratitude to all partners and stakeholders for their support in making this project a reality.”
