A new agreement between the Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) and Santos Foundation will see the companies enhance the development of the Nipa-Kutubu District in Southern Highlands Province.
The partnership will focus on strategic priorities within the district, including:
- the upgrading of education infrastructure and resources
- the enhancement of security, law and justice through youth involvement
- the creation of sustainable employment and agricultural opportunities for young people.
“This partnership with Santos Foundation is a significant step towards achieving sustainable development,” MRDC managing director Augustine Mano said.
“We are focused on improving lives through strategic collaboration.”
Santos Foundation PNG head Jean Martin said the two companies were looking forward to seeing the change the partnership will drive.
“We are dedicated to creating opportunities and empowering communities in Papua New Guinea and working with MRDC is key to achieving some of these goals,” Martin said.
“We are excited to see our combined vision and resources drive impactful change and development.”
The agreement will leverage MRDC’s community infrastructure and social programs in the area, as well as the company’s ability to facilitate comprehensive registration for the PNG Civil and Identity Registry’s NID project.
It will also support the improvement of water, sanitation and hygiene throughout the district.
