Loyalty, commitment and dedication. These are some key traits that have characterised Malakati Anguai’s work with Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) over the last 40 years.
The company’s superintendent for processing support was one of three staff members who have served OTML for four decades, and one of 386 employees recently recognised for their long service of five years or more.
Processing plant trainier Jeffrey Dihin, and dozer and grader operator Ilbin Mike also received 40 year long service awards in 2025.
Every year, OTML hosts a dinner event to recognise its employees who have reached long service milestones.
This year, those reaching 15 to 40 year milestones were recognised at the formal event last month. Long service awards were also shared at the departmental level with staff reaching five and 10-year milestones.
Ok Tedi managing director and chief executive officer Kedi Ilimbit thanked all of the decorated employees for their contributions and loyalty to the company.
“We recognise, we celebrate, and we truly appreciate our long serving employees, your loyalty, commitment and dedication are commendable,” he said.
“Your significant period of employment is a testament to your commitment, passion, dedication, loyalty in service to our organisation and to all our stakeholders.”
OTML is unwavering in its efforts to nurture and develop Papua New Guineans, with 98 percent of the company’s workforce PNG locals. The company fosters a culture where all employees align with its company values and support its “One Team, Wan Pasin” approach.
Ilimbit said this focuses on delivering results as a collective unit throughout the organisation.
“At Ok Tedi, we not only mine metals but we also mine the workforce of Papua New Guinea,” he said.
